For the user testing of PageTurner, participants were asked to sign a consent form, then were read a script and asked to complete three tasks. The script and tasks, as well as a video of three user tests and their corresponding consent forms are shown below.
Script
Welcome, user, to the prototype testing of my library tracking app called PageTurner. This app allows you to categorize books you own and those you want to read, interact with other users, and locate places to get books such as libraries and used bookstores. Please remember that you are not being tested, but rather you are testing the app to see if it works well. You may end the test at any time.
You will be given three tasks. I will not be able to help you because I want to see how intuitive and successful my app is. However, if you have any questions before you begin, you are welcome to ask them. While you test, it would be helpful if you speak out loud if possible. Thank you for your time, and have fun exploring PageTurner!
Tasks
- Create a reading goal for this month.
- Search for and add a book to your TBR list.
- View and comment on a friend’s book review.
